Both Together — One Coordinated Journey
When you need both an egg donor and a gestational surrogate, we handle both tracks simultaneously — so your journey is faster, simpler, and managed by one team.
The combined egg donation + surrogacy path is used when intended parents need both a donor egg and a gestational carrier — most commonly gay male couples and single men. In California, the journey takes approximately 14–18 months and costs $120,000–$200,000 all-in. Both tracks are coordinated simultaneously by a single team, shortening the overall timeline.
When You Need Both
an Egg Donor & a Surrogate
Some intended parents need an egg donor — because they do not have viable eggs or prefer not to use their own genetics. Others need a gestational surrogate — because they cannot or should not carry a pregnancy. When both apply, the combined path is your route to parenthood.
This is the most common path for gay male couples and single men. At Alpha Fidelis, we coordinate both the egg donation cycle and the surrogacy journey simultaneously — through one team, one timeline, and one point of contact.
One Agency for
Both Journeys
Managing egg donation and surrogacy through two separate agencies adds complexity, cost, and delays. We were built to coordinate both.
Parallel Coordination
We begin surrogate matching and egg donor selection simultaneously — not one after the other. This trims months off your timeline.
Single Point of Contact
One dedicated coordinator manages both processes. You never have to chase two agencies or coordinate between separate teams.
Synchronized Timeline
We align the egg retrieval, embryo creation, and your surrogate's transfer cycle so there is minimal waiting between stages.
Lower Combined Cost
Working with one agency for both services avoids duplicate coordination fees and simplifies your escrow and legal setup.
Your Combined Journey
Step by Step
A typical combined egg donation + surrogacy journey takes 14–18 months from first consultation to birth. Because both tracks run in parallel, the timeline is significantly shorter than if done separately.
We learn about your goals, medical history, and preferences. Your coordinator outlines the combined process, projected timeline, and total cost estimate. You leave with a clear picture of what lies ahead.
This is the key advantage of the combined path: both processes run at the same time. You review egg donor profiles and surrogate candidates simultaneously. Your coordinator manages both tracks so neither waits on the other.
Separate legal agreements are executed with your egg donor and your gestational surrogate. Each party has independent legal representation. Escrow is funded before any medical procedure begins.
Your selected donor undergoes medical screening at your IVF clinic, then begins a stimulation protocol. Monitoring appointments occur every 2–3 days until retrieval. We coordinate all donor travel and scheduling.
Eggs are retrieved and fertilized with your (or your partner's) sperm in the IVF lab. Many gay couples choose to fertilize eggs with both partners' sperm to create two sets of embryos. Optional PGT-A genetic testing is done at this stage.
With embryos ready and legal agreements signed, your surrogate begins a uterine preparation protocol. A single embryo is transferred in a brief outpatient procedure. A blood test 10–14 days later confirms pregnancy.
Your surrogate is monitored by her OB/GYN. We coordinate milestone updates, ultrasound sharing, and pre-birth order filing. Your name(s) appear on the birth certificate from day one — no adoption required.
What Does the Combined Path Cost?
The combined egg donation + surrogacy journey is the most significant investment — and the most life-changing. Total costs typically range from $120,000 – $200,000 depending on clinic, surrogate compensation, donor compensation, and medical outcomes. We provide a detailed, itemized estimate at your first consultation.
